On the 12th of November me and Licia participated, upon invitation of the Italian Embassy in Baghdad and in representation of the entire team of Abu Tbeirah, in the touching ceremony in memory of the Italians fallen 10 years ago following the car bombing at the base of the Carabinieri in Nasiriyah.
The Italian Ambassador, HE Massimo Marotti, has presented the monument, fashioned by an Iraqi artist, where the names of the 19 Carabinieri are written in Italian and in Cuneiform (Sumerian) characters. I had the honor to be requested by the Ambassador of the cuneiform writing of the Italian names.
The ceremony has been very touching, with a wonderful prayer read by the HE the Nuntius Apostolicus Mons. Lingua and a sincerely moved speech of HE N. Khairullah, Iraqi Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Il 12 novembre io e Licia abbiamo partecipato, su invito dell’Ambasciata italiana a Baghdad e in rappresentanza di tutto il team di Abu Tbeirah, alla toccante cerimonia in ricordo degli italiani caduti 10 anni fa in seguito all’attentato presso la base dei Carabinieri a Nassiriya.
L’Ambasciatore italiano, SE Massimo Marotti, ha presentato il monumento, voluto fortemente da lui e modellato da un’artista irachena, dove i nomi dei 19 Carabinieri sono scritti in caratteri latini e cuneiformi sumerici. onore di essere stato invitato dall’Ambasciatore a redigere in scrittura cuneiforme i nomi dei soldati italiani.
La cerimonia è stata molto commovente, con una meravigliosa preghiera letta dal SE il Nuntius apostolicus mons. Lingua e un discorso sinceramente toccante di SE N. Khairullah, Vice-Ministro degli Affari Esteri dell’Iraq.
